On the shoreline of Qatar’s coast lies Al Wakra, a historic fishing village that was once the center of the country’s pearl industry and surrounded by hundreds of docked boats. Today, Al Wakra is Qatar’s second biggest city, with attractive public beaches, a huge souq, and some of the best health, rail, and education infrastructure in the Middle East.

Home to the Zaha Hadid-designed, 40,000 capacity Al Janoub football stadium, Al Wakra became a major destination during the 2022 World Cup. In turn, this will act as a springboard for future growth, so that Al Wakra becomes as well known around the world as Doha.

Central to the city’s development will be a large top-class housing scheme. UrbaCon Trading and Contracting (UCC), which is part of the UCC Holding and Power International Holding conglomerate, has completed the two residential projects worth more than QAR5bn (£1bn).

DAL was missioned with the preparation of Architecture shop drawings for the 10 clusters of around 13 residential buildings and facilities including hyper market to serve more than 6000 residential units.

Since it was a fast-track project, DAL assigned professional and adequate resources to carry out the various services promptly upon being appointed by UCC. DAL delivered successfully on time and quality as required by UCC, guaranteeing full compliance with all the international norms of Building Construction, Qatar standards and the requirements of the design and the main client, all in accordance with the Statutory Regulations applicable as part of the contract and according to the approvals and instructions issued by UCC.
